Silicon Light

When used in conjunction with a dispersive optic (static grating or prism), the GLV can be effectively used in spectral shaping applications. The dispersive optic spectrally decomposes the beam onto the GLV which is then used to selectively attenuate regions of the spectrum. After reflection from the GLV, the same dispersive optic recombines the spectrally shaped beam. The GLV is well suited to spectral shaping applications incorporating super-continuum (broad band) lasers. Recently, the GLV was incorporated in a novel solar simulator for advanced photo-voltaic characterization. This system demonstrated record-setting performance in spectral resolution, intensity resolution and power handling.
